Marily has practiced as an environmental, land use and natural resources attorney for more than 17 years with private law firms, government agencies and nonprofit organizations.
  • Developed a broad-based practice in the areas of environmental, land use and natural resources law. Her work includes counseling, compliance, transactions and litigation, and she has had the opportunity to work in these areas in a variety of contexts - as a private law firm attorney, as well as a government attorney and an in-house attorney for a nonprofit environmental law group.

  • Counseled government, industry and nonprofit clients on issues arising under federal, state and local environmental and public lands management laws and regulations, oil and gas laws and mining laws. She is an experienced Clean Air Act attorney and has substantive knowledge of climate change law and policy.

  • Developed substantial expertise in the area of land use, development proposals and conservation-related development. She has counseled government officials on all aspects of land use law, including zoning, subdivisions, special districts, intergovernmental agreements, annexations, rural clusters, siting of public facilities, mineral operations, telecommunications facilities, threatened and endangered species and growth controls.

  • Participated in developing state legislation and local, state and federal regulations. She has negotiated extensively with government officials at the local, state and federal level, as well as industry representatives, to resolve environmental and land-use disputes.

  • Analyzed environmental liabilities and negotiated contractual protections in the context of large transactions involving the transfer of real property.
